Job Description:

As a Behavior Specialist, you'll be responsible for implementing and monitoring systems that support people who perform challenging behaviors. You'll facilitate health/safety, enhanced quality of life, desired lifestyles, and increased levels of independence, productivity, and social/physical integration. You'll support people with disabilities in Multnomah and Washington Counties.Albertina Kerr empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges and other social barriers to lead self-determined lives and reach their full potential. Join our team, get a $2,000 sign-on bonus!All Kerr employees are required to be fully vaccinated or meet the requirements for a medical or religious exception prior to beginning work.Essential DutiesPerforms comprehensive functional assessment. Interviews, direct observation, record reviews, and environmental manipulations are utilized to generate hypotheses about the causes and functions of problematic behaviors.Identifies relevant support services and contributing data as indicated. May include psychiatric, counseling, medical, vocational, school sites or other specialist's supports.Writes, monitors and modifies ongoing, positive behavioral supports as indicated in the BSP, based upon the needs of the individual.Works with the person, their family, program staff, management and other Individual Support Plan team members to develop and implement behavior support plans and data collection procedures.Provides training of BSPs and modifications.Learn to teach the Oregon Intervention System training to certify staff who can reasonably anticipate applying protective physical intervention, and functional alternatives to behaviors.Monitors agency compliance to behavior related responsibilities as outlined in state promulgated administrative rules and monitors agency compliance with the state psychiatric review board.Provides ongoing consultation to program administrators, coordinators, and managers.BenefitsPaid medical, dental, and vision employee benefitsPaid basic life & accident insurance and short- & long-term disabilityPaid internal training and career developmentPaid holidays and generous time off401(k) retirement savings plan with up to 4% employer match24-hour Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) that provides resources for everything from mental health to pet insurance and financial counsellingSatisfies employment requirement for student loan Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PLSF)Proficiency in the English language.Ability to pass a criminal background check.Complete a minimum of twelve (12) hours each biennium of ongoing education in the field of positive behavior support services, adaptive behaviors, behavior management, or a related topic.Certification as a state approved Oregon Intervention System trainer (preferred).Ability to meet agency driving requirements.And, must meet one of the following requirements:Possess a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) graduate-level certification in in behavior analysis and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities.Possess a Master of Arts, or a Master of Science, in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework, and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities.Possess a Bachelor of Arts, or a Bachelor of Science, in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework, and three (3) years of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities.By January 1, 2021, a minimum of six (6) years of experience performing professional behavior services using positive behavior support services, and no less than three (3) letters of reference from case management entities who have approved FBA's or PBSP's authored by the applicant.
