THE POSITION ** THIS RECRUITMENT IS NOW OPEN UNTIL FILLED, FIRST APPLICATION REVIEW 1/3/2022.**The Supervising Electrician, under the direction of the Facilities and Parks Manager, installs, maintains and tests electrical distribution systems and associated electrical wiring, voice and data cabling. Employees perform the most complex maintenance repair work, requiring advanced journey level licensing, in those trades which involve highly technical practices and repair procedures. Works with both AC and DC currents and low/high voltages. Signs for all electrical permits, responsible for the supervision of all electrical work done on County premises and property. Responsible for other rights and responsibilities of a General Supervising Electrician as found in the state of Oregon statutes ORS 479.560(1) (2), ORS 479.630(2) and ORS 479.860.The ideal candidate will be required to leverage experience, skills, and energy to meet the ongoing challenges of several ongoing and impending needs of the county. These needs, range from event-driven imperatives to Washington County priorities. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Duties may include:

  • Perform skilled preventative and corrective electrical maintenance to equipment associated with County buildings, such as distribution centers, operational and control systems, interior and exterior lighting, electrical door systems and miscellaneous building maintenance equipment; install, alter, and repair interior and exterior wiring systems, floor lifts and other electrical fixtures and equipment.
  • Test, locate, and repair trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; perform some electronic equipment repair and troubleshooting; repair and replace broken or defective parts; repair electrical motors, parts, wiring and other electrical devices.
  • Install and maintain motors and generators; perform other electrical work and some related mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks such as servicing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and other related building maintenance work.
  • Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication; creates a workplace that promotes the organizational values of workplace diversity, equity and inclusion and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a multicultural society.
  • Evaluate and maintain electrical systems for adequate capacity, safety and code compliance; coordinate with other maintenance personnel to evaluate electrical plant aspects to insure safety to public and all County personnel.

For more information and to review the full classification, please use this link: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:
  • Successful completion of Oregon four (4) year Non-Union apprentice program with training in electrical design, installation, and repair, particularly related to building maintenance, experience as a journey-level electrician related to building maintenance with four (4) years of experience as a supervising electrician or lead worker OR
  • Successful completion of Oregon five (5) year Union apprentice program with training in electrical design, installation, and repair, particularly related to building maintenance, with (4) years of experience as a journey-level electrician related to building maintenance with some experience as a supervising electrician or lead worker.Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements:
  • Must possess a drivers license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon State Electrical Supervisors License. (Oregon has a reciprocal agreement with the following states: Arkansas and Utah).
  • Must pass a physical capacity test.
