The Department of Medicine (DOM) strives to systematically increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and foster a culture, where all faculty can operate at the top of their potential. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

 

The appointee role around systems-improvement in addiction care at HMC is intended as an evolving role to help Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) members learn about and use inclusive language (with culturally specific SUD lens) in institutional communications and patient care.

 

The duties of this position include:

1. Serve as a physician in the Section of Addiction Medicine, including care on the inpatient addiction medicine consult service (IMPACT). Primary clinical duties will be at HMC
2. HMC program development and systems-improvement in addiction care
3. Participate in teaching students, residents, and addiction medicine fellows at OHSU and HMC
4. Potential to serve as clinician investigator on various addition medicine grants 
5. Potential for outpatient integrated addiction medicine internal medicine clinic and bridge clinic work

 

The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with a team of health care providers and collaborate to achieve clinical care goals.  Our practice also includes innovative models for delivering care to people with substance use disorder, integrating addictions care into general medical settings, and improving care systems overall. Best-qualified candidates for this role will be dedicated to working with the section of Addiction Medicine to define and create a culture of diversity, inclusion, and support for all members of the section.

• MD or DO
• Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) addiction medicine board certification
• Current Oregon Medical License prior to start date
• DEA License and X -license
• Knowledge of substance use disorder assessments and treatment
• Ability to develop and deliver education materials, including giving lectures and developing slide sets

• Certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) or American Board of Preventive Medicine-Addiction Medicine Fellowship trained and Board certified or Board eligible
• 2 years practice experience
• Strong leadership and teaching experience
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders to create systems change
• Deep understanding of the social determinants of health and how hey influence patients' experience and care

The OHSU Section of Addiction Medicine houses robust addiction medicine research programs. While the primary duties for this position involve service and teaching, applicants are encouraged to pursue scholarly activities.
