Position SummaryThe Salud! Services Assistant is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality care to Salud! Services clients in accordance with individual needs, and standards of care. Assists in the preparation, set-up, organization, implementation, and clean-up of mobile health clinics and other outreach services vehicles and equipment. Assists in the coordination of outreach projects that promote health and wellness education program activities. Works collaboratively with the Clinical Services team in the development, implementation and assessment of health education and health promotion. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -Performed majority of the time -- please start with the responsibilities that are the most time consuming: Assists with health screens, provide health education information in Spanish to groups or individuals, and help participants fill out forms and clinic paperwork. Assists with written communications, collecting health history, conducting research, reporting feedback, record keeping, and other support to promote efficiency and excellent customer service. Assists with the planning, preparation, and packing for field days, and also helps to develop health education materials, work on special projects, and assist with clerical duties. Assist with the referral of patients to the proper primary care agency as instructed by the program's registered nurses. Participates as an active team member in developing and implementing quality improvement programs to improve care and access of care to our clients. Serves as a health promotion resource person to Salud! Services clients. Working knowledge of patient navigation experience preferred. Comfortable working with primarily adult male population. Demonstrates organizational skills and good customer service skills. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work assignments; performs assignments in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeks clarification or interpretation of questions concerning policies/procedures from appropriate supervisor. Ensures company vehicles always stay in efficient and clean condition. Accurately maintains a daily log and record of mileage and keeps an accurate maintenance log for all assigned vehicles. Trains and assists staff in mobile operations, including scheduling maintenance and documentation of maintenance or issues. Assist during mobile dental and vision outreach services. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job: Answers and directs Salud! Services mobile outreach services inquiries appropriately. Participates in continuing education seminars, department in-services, safety training and other educational opportunities within the hospital and community. Provides health care interpretation services once required training is completed. Decision making and budget responsibilities (e.g. impact limited to the employee, entire unit or organization-wide): Decisions can impact the department, and under direct guidance of Salud! Services Manager. Utilizes corporate credit card and receipts for company vehicles. No budget responsibilities.Education:Required N/APreferred Associates Degree in Healthcare related field.Experience:Required N/APreferred Previous experience in a clinic environment. At least one (1) year working with migrant population. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:Required Oregon Drivers' License. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire. Qualified/certified interpreter in the healthcare setting in the state of Oregon, or complete certification within one (1) year of hire. Certified patient navigator of Community health worker, required within180 days of hire. Preferred Certification (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certification as a Registered Medical Assist (RMA) by American Medical Technologies (AMT) or Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association (NHA) or Certification as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:Required General knowledge of public health principles and community health outreach. Working knowledge and application of primary prevention, program planning, research, assessment, group dynamics, and collaborative teamwork. Comfort in public speaking desired. Demonstrates good verbal and written skills. Conflict resolution skills related to patient care and communication issues. Knowledge and application of group dynamics collaboration. Demonstrates skill in dealing with multi-disciplinary teams and an appreciation of working effectively with competing opinions and priorities. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, implement and follow through with attention to detail, with minimal supervision. Creative problem-solver, solution-oriented, able to stay flexible and professional under the pressure of multiple demands. Acts as a team member and supports the success of others. Basic computer skills including word processing, database management, and spreadsheet development. Familiar with email and electronic calendaring systems. Ability to work in a public location under pressure and with many interruptions. Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks and set priorities.Preferred Data collection and analysis skills preferred.Other:Required Bilingual Spanish skills required. Be at least 21 years old. Drives a company-owned vehicle as part of their job and is considered a Category A. driver. Must have a satisfactory driving record which is defined as:o no more than one (1) accident and two (2) moving violations or o two (2) accidents and one (1) violation or o no accidents and three (3) violations on or off the job within the past 36 months, and o no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), license suspension, auto felony convictions or other serious violations within the past 36 months.
