Provide Field Applications support of scanning electron
microscopes and focused ion beam tools.
Act as a high level customer interface for specific
instrument/applications issues, acting as a technical expert,
explaining complex technology details, giving in depth
presentations, and assisting in technique development.
Process development and other technical deliverables at the
Deliver Best Practice Document customization to
customer-specific processes, write production recipes and run
qualification experiments to drive the use of Thermo Fisher
Scientific's tools in production.
Guide the customer in writing production recipes and
qualification experiments to drive the production use of Thermo
Fisher Scientific's tools.
Act as a primary communication conduit to the factory by
reporting engineering and production issues from the customer to
Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Troubleshoot and report software and hardware issues and
escalate as necessary.
Provide feedback to engineering on system performance, features
Support the market division by assisting with the Factory
Acceptance Tests at Thermo Fisher Scientific when needed.
Support the market division by assisting with the Customer
Acceptance Tests (CAT), and initiation/stabilization phases of tool
installs at customer sites.
Recommend and advise on direction for potential applications
consistent with customer requirements and technical
Provide technical support to SSD, R&D, Manufacturing,
Customer Service and other departments as required.
Ph.D degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electronic
Engineering, or related field of study plus four years of
Applications Engineer, Applications Scientist, or related
experience. Employer also accepts a Master's degree plus 10 years
of experience as an equivalent alternative.
Must have experience or knowledge of:
Advanced technology and diagnostics;
Operational optimization of electron/ion microscopes, various
energy dispersive spectrometers, or other analytical
Gallium and Plasma-based Dual-beam (FIB/SEM) systems;
Sample preparation techniques using Dual-beam systems, including
top down, inverted, and planar TEM prep and atom probe tomography
Semiconductor devices and manufacturing techniques for the
semiconductor and related industries; and
Automated script development.
Willing to travel nationally up to 40% nationally and
