Job Description:
Resource One serves clients in a wide variety of industries who
use various types of technology and solutions in their business
operations. Because Resource One must respond to a broad spectrum
of needs from this diverse client base, technicians in this role
cannot operate as if they are executing a standard set of protocols
to address client needs. To fill the responsibilities of a Network
Administrator, a candidate must be able to use critical thinking
and logic to address client needs and solve their problem in ways
that draw on their knowledge and expertise. This role also must be
handled with a degree of professionalism which utilizes high level
communication to ensure successful resolutions in ways that honor
and adhere to Resource One's core values.The primary purpose of the
Network Administrator position is to deliver high quality service
when executing various solutions to service Resource One's client
base. This means the role must be adaptable and responsive when
confronted with client problems. Because Network Administrators are
responsible for a client's network health, addressing issues must
include the ability to think about the big picture and go beyond
the immediate reported symptom to identify underlying issues and
suggest solutions for resolution. It is also expected that this
role is well versed in Resource One's approved solutions and is
able to propose and implement these and other technologies in
client environments while adhering to industry best practice and
meet high standards for quality.Service delivery by this role is
conducted for clients in person, over the phone, using remote
support tools, and at Resource One's office. A Network
Administrator is expected to take escalated issues from Resource
One's Help Desk and assist team members who have had trouble
addressing the problem. Part of this role is to provide training,
develop processes, maintain documentation, and create
how-to-documents to help other team members succeed in situations
they previously had trouble resolving.Essential Functions: Design,
configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network services such as
Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SMB, SNMP, electronic mail, and
Virtual Private Network Plan and implement system security policies
and Group Policy Objects Manage and maintain firewalls, host and
client access, and user accounts Identify critical client business
processes and be able to identify appropriate solutions to our
clients Manage and upgrade data security systems as well as
addressing threats and breaches identified by alert and monitoring
tools put in place Evaluate software options and working with
vendors to deploy and upgrade LoB applications Develop thorough
understanding of all Resource One's products and services,
implementation methods and application to specific business
situations Assist with server management by responding to server
issues that may require application or database shutdown/startup,
server reboot, or restarting of server services Test and deploy new
software and procedures, implementation, conversion and upgrade
activities Identify, troubleshoot, categorize, and resolve PC
hardware, operating system, and software problems Identify,
troubleshoot, categorize, and resolve Mac hardware, operating
system, and software problems Perform initial program installation
and user-specific configuration for standard desktop applications
Perform diagnostics with users to collect information about problem
to determine source Isolate performance issues to determine cause
of hardware malfunctions, such as hard drive, modem, printer,
cables and related equipment Contact software and hardware vendors
to research problem and determine recommended solutions Resolve
remote access, printing, and network connectivity problems Perform
either disaster recovery or data restoration operations where
appropriate Review client networks and provide recommendations for
vCIO services Effectively prioritize and focus on resolving the
most critical issues first when managing workload Log and track
communication and resolution actions using ticketing system
Maintain historical records and related documentation Adhere to all
company processes and standards Handle escalations from other team
members when they cannot successfully resolve the issue
independently Work collaboratively with other team members to
resolve complex problems when necessary Provide training to team
members to support resolution of issues independently Ability to
understand the purpose of a process to identify when an issue's
resolution may be outside of the process' scope Create detailed
scopes of work for project design and implementation Ability to
simplify explanation of complex technology and solutions for
communication Complete all paperwork and reports accurately and on
time. This would include entering time at the end of each client
engagement and submitting time sheets at the end of each work week
The goal should be to respond to client and internal requests for
help that are received during normal business hours within two
hours or less. Client and internal requests for help that are
received after hours should receive a response as early as possible
the next business day. If a client or employee indicates the matter
is urgent, the Network Administrator may need to address the
problem after hoursOther duties: Develop ideas for improved service
and product offerings and designs implementation methods and
criteria for selection Coordinate preventative maintenance and
vendor services as necessary Participate in creation and
maintenance of IT standards and procedures Other roles and duties,
as assigned Participate in rotating After-Hours call group for
client emergencies Attend company meetings RequirementsWork
Experience and Qualification Requirements: Requires strong
technical skill, including ability to use a computer/laptop, phone
system, scanner, printer, and other job-related equipment Requires
proficient ability to read, write and speak English, in order to
communicate effectively with employees and customers Requires
proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Requires ability to
manage time and responsibilities to process time-sensitive tasks
and situations Requires ability to protect confidential information
Requires proactive, innovative and strategic thinking skills
Requires ability to work self-directed, with little to no
supervision Requires reliable transportation, valid Oregon driver's
license, and proof of insurance (for travel and transporting
equipment to and from client sites) Requires ability to communicate
with internal staff, vendors, and clients with tact and
professionalism Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds
occasionally, and with help, when moving or deploying
computer/networking equipment or office furniture in preparation
for equipment moves Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds
several times per week when moving or deploying computer/networking
equipment Requires ability to stand and/or sit at a desk for full
shift Requires ability to bend, flex, grip, reach, lift, pull,
and/or extend neck, most often during the deployment of hardware
Requires the ability to work after-hours as directed from
time-to-time Education and Training Requirements: High school
diploma or GED required. Minimum of 8 years' experience in the IT
industry Proficiency with troubleshooting and supporting Macintosh
Operating System CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent
knowledge/experience CompTIA Network + Certification or equivalent
knowledge/experience CompTIA Server + Certification or equivalent
knowledge/experience MCSE Certification or other Relevant advanced
