Wellness resources BMWIT is looking to bring on A mental health
physical therapist who combines physical therapy expertise with an
understanding of mental health conditions. They assess, plan, and
implement treatment plans to improve physical function and
well-being while considering the psychological and social aspects
of the patient's life. This includes addressing pain, movement
limitations, and functional impairments, while also recognizing how
mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and trauma can
impact recovery and overall quality of life. Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conducting physical therapy
evaluations to identify physical limitations, pain, and functional
deficits. Developing individualized treatment plans that integrate
physical and mental health considerations. Movement and Exercise
Prescription: Designing and implementing exercise programs to
improve strength, mobility, balance, and coordination, while also
considering the patient's mental state and ability to participate.
Pain Management: Utilizing various physical therapy techniques to
manage pain, including manual therapy, modalities, and exercise,
while also addressing the psychological factors that can influence
pain perception and experience. Education and Training: Educating
patients and their families about physical therapy interventions,
pain management strategies, and the connection between physical and
mental health. Collaboration and Referral: Collaborating with other
healthcare professionals, including mental health providers, to
ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Making referrals to
mental health specialists when appropriate. Promoting Wellness:
Empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery by
promoting self-management skills, healthy lifestyle choices, and
coping strategies
