One of our largest and most well-known clients has a brand-new opportunity for a Level 3 Lab Compute Technician. Our client is looking for a candidate with first-level support with basic but general network troubleshooting knowledge. This role will be supporting teams onsite at two different labs. The identified candidate will provide basic networking troubleshooting at the OS level (Windows as well as some Linux). The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, be flexible and able to multitask support requests coming from customers, as well as demonstrate basic knowledge of Windows. Site Duties:

• Candidate will occasionally handle cabling within the racks
  • Support rolling fibers
    • Changing polarity
    • Troubleshooting Layer 1 Connectivity
      • Identifying defective transceivers, defective cables, and / or defective switches
      • Providing physical touch and console access to remote NetOps team members
      • Opening Cisco TAC tickets and working them to resolution
      • Occasionally need to be willing to wear a hardhat and other protective gear due to construction
      • Need to be able / willing to stand on your feet in a loud datacenter for extended periods of time Soft Skills:
        • Basic or entry level networking troubleshooting
        • Basic or entry level OS / SysAdmin knowledge, Windows, and Linux
          • Basic Familiarity with
            • Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches
            • Cisco POAP (automated provisioning)
            • Ansible and / or AWX
            • Complete required training (Hazardous materials, data center safety, etc.)
            • Basic understanding of Windows Server OS's (2008R2, 2012R2, 2016)
            • Basic understanding of Command Prompt and network troubleshooting commands Required Skills and Qualifications:
              • Ability to multitask support requests as they come in for customers
              • Ability to display initiative with tasks
              • Can communicate with customer and OPS lead in a professional and timely manner
              • Complies with attendance and work specific policies
              • Be flexible and reliable; ability to prioritize tasks for customers and ability to update notes on tickets W2 only, no Corp to Corp.
