Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:Radiology Technologist Supervisor ensures excellent customer service by maintaining staff coverage, monitoring diagnostic quality of exams, and facilitating communication between patients, staff and radiologists. Models professional standards for radiologic technologists including professionalism, confidentiality, and patient care, while performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures. Reports to the department manager while supervising administrative staff, technologists and department leads to ensure their success and continuity of service.
Performed majority of the time - please start with the responsibilities that are the most time consuming:

  • Interfaces between radiologists and department staff
    • Ensure exams meet standards set by radiologists by evaluating orders and advising technologists as needed
      • Performs tasks as a licensed imager as needed
        • Coordinates staff to ensure minimal wait time for patient's exam
          • Prepares work schedules for general diagnostic imaging staff and coordinates breaks and lunches
            • Gives regular performance feedback to employees
              • Coordinate Health Physicist inspection/calibration, and Oregon Radiation Protection Services inspection
                • Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information
                  • Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair
                    • Maintains awareness of quality management
                      • Involves others in decisions that might impact their job
                        • Oversee updating procedure books for imaging modalities
                          • Participate in review and updating of Tualipedia, hot files, MCN
                            Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

                            • Participates in long range planning for department design, imaging equipment and staffing needs
                              • Participates in screening applicants, interviewing and hiring of technical staff and attendants
                                • Monitor patient satisfaction tools and reports. In the absence of Diagnostic Imaging Manager, manage timely response to patient complaints
                                  Decision making and budget responsibilities (e.g. impact limited to the employee, entire unit or organization-wide):

                                  • Decisions influence the team that the supervisor is supporting
                                    • Helps the manager with the budgeting for the assigned group

                                          JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
                                          JOB SPECIFICATIONS

                                          • Graduated from an accredited program in medical radiography or radiologic sciences

                                            • Bachelor's Degree


                                              • Minimum 1 year of experience as a lead technologist or comparable experience supervising staff
                                                • Minimum 3 years of experience as a staff technologist

                                                  • Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

                                                    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography ARDMS
                                                      • Oregon Radiologic Technologist License - OBMI
                                                        • Current Healthcare Provider BLS required
                                                          • Active membership in professional organizations.
                                                            Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:

                                                            • Relates effective interpersonal and communication skills
                                                              • Exhibits knowledge of imaging procedures
                                                                • Exhibits leadership skills

                                                                  • Bilingual skills a plus.
