If so this product management leadership role is for you.


As the product owner for a Big Data Platform service (Kafka) at massive scale for all Salesforce, your relentless focus will be to drive customer adoption, satisfaction, and growth. You will engage Salesforce-wide business and technology leaders and their extended developer teams to understand their needs, GTM strategy, and jobs to be done, and you will define the vision and roadmap for the service. You will closely work with product managers, software engineers, data and service owners, Security, and several other cross-functional global teams to define, build and execute on key platform service platform capabilities that enable developers to create large-scale big data solutions including data ingestion, stream processing and analytics. You will build meaningful relationships with teams and management in many Salesforce business units to drive implementation, execution, metrics, and sustainability of program objectives that allow operations to continuously improve our ability to protect and respond to incidents and events across our world-wide footprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop vision and roadmap, and execute with coherent strategy, including design, user requirements, market assessments, scalable delivery plan, and marketing strategy for Kafka at Salesforce.
  • Engage customers, partners and internal stakeholders to determine business requirements, technical considerations and strategic objectives.
  • Manage product backlog and sprint priority including creating user stories, defining project exit criteria
  • Collaborate with PM, engineering and operations peers to deliver strategic and tactical plans and objectives.
  • Strive to continuously improve current service visibility, incident response and insights, quality and capabilities through new services or processes.
  • Serve as a product owner on the multiple scrum teams and work with engineers to deliver a quality product on time.
  • Engage with our partner and customer communities to drive customer enthusiasm and product adoption. Working closely with key customers to envision, plan, and execute along with assigned architecture and consulting resources. Experience/Skills Required:
    • 5+ years of solid product management experience with a proven track record of building awesome platform services and/or enterprise products from concept to delivery
    • Demonstrated customer engagement and constant presence with experience in formulating vision and execution plans with an actionable product roadmap
    • Top notch written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership, and evangelizing product strategy
    • Strong collaboration, influence, and negotiation skills to align the organization around prioritization and delivery of product roadmap
    • Exceptional time management skills to effectively juggle multiple demanding priorities
    • Strong platform user experience / design sense
    • Well-developed leadership, management, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to excite and lead others.
    • Background in big data open source technologies such as Apache Kafka, HBase, Apache Spark, or Presto/Trino. Desired Skills:
      • Proven platform product management experience in the B2B enterprise space
      • Expertise in at least some of the areas including big data open source technologies, Analytics & ML/AI at Petabyte scale, public cloud services, and cloud native architectures
      • Expertise in building a cloud service from scratch and scaling it handle petabytes of data with thousands of users
      • Thorough understanding of infrastructure lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile or similar methodologies
      • Understanding of secure software development lifecycle from coding to deployment
      • Masters Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent. MBA preferred.

        Location: Bellevue (Seattle) or San Francisco or other major US locations; there are opportunities for travel for training and mentoring, but this position requires no formal travel.
