Job Description:
The silicon development team is seeking passionate, driven and
intellectually curious computer/electrical engineers to join our
team responsible for developing future Mixed-Signal IPs for next
generation Microsoft custom silicon. The ideal candidate is a
self-starter, highly motivated engineer with excellent technical
skills, used to working independently or as a key member of a
small, fast moving design team.ResponsibilitiesPerform all aspects
of Physical Design tasks including synthesis, floorplanning,
placement & routing, power grid planning, CTS, physical
verification, Power, IR-Drop, ESD and EM analysis, Equivalency
checks, STA, and optimize the design for best Power, Performance
and Area.Have close collaboration with RTL and custom circuit teams
to help drive and resolve design issues related to fullchip and
partition closure.Engage with the team to drive continuous
improvements to the tools, flows, and overall design methodology
with a data driven approach.QualificationsMinimum Requirements
BS/MS in Electrical---or Computer Engineering8+ years of broad
hands-on experience in structural and custom digital design,
delivering successful products from conception to functional
silicon for revenue Solid experience with high frequency and low
power design as well as constraints generation, STA, timing
optimization, and timing closure.Strong problem-solving and data
analysis skillsExcellent skills in all aspects of planning,
cross-group collaboration, communications, analytical capabilities
and attention to detailAdditional Preferred Qualifications -SoC/IP
design tape-out experience in the latest foundry process nodes.Deep
expertise in Synthesis, floorplanning, place & route, clocking,
physical verification, Equivalency checks, EM-IR, power
analysis.Experience in EDA tools such as Primetime, Nanotime,
StarRC, Design Compiler, ICC, Innovus etc.Strong automation skills
using scripting languages such as Perl, TCL, Python.Ability to meet
Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening
requirements are required for this role. These requirements
include, but are not limited to the following specialized security
screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be
required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon
hire/transfer and every two years thereafterSilicon Engineering IC5
- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD
$133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable
to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and
New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this
role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per
year.Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work
locations within the United States, which allows us to pay
employees competitively and consistently in different geographic
markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base
pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the
applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is
determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual
base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work
location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job
duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay
ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are
made within the base pay range applicable at the time. At Microsoft
certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit
increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based
on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the
opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or
utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's
